Hi! I'm Jeanne Bellinger
When I was a kid, we didn’t recycle; we re-used and repurposed.
Mayonnaise jars were saved as future canning supplies, fabric was saved for future sewing projects, lumber scraps were saved for any repairs needed. Scraps were thrown into the compost heap, and there was very little that ended up in the garbage can.
It wasn’t out of character then, for me to “rescue” all the family photos that ended up in a wastebasket during a home clean out. I began to look for a way to repurpose them, and eventually, a unique type of collage was born. This art form that takes me back to my roots; to a time when finding creative uses for things was commonplace.
Not Your Typical Collage & Mixed Media
Each of these pieces has been "painted" using repurposed photographs. Each tiny 1/8" strip or 1/2" square is auditioned according to color and value and how it contributes to the whole.
