My Work
(not your typical)
Collage & Mixed Media
Once upon a time, I was sorting through family photos, intending to throw away all the duplicates. I thought, “I think I could do something with those.” Fast forward a bit, and a process for creating a unique type of collage was born.
First, the photos are cut into tiny, 1/8” strips. Each strip is carefully auditioned to maintain the color and values, and are then glued down.
Straight edges, combined with color variations, create slightly undefined edges, causing the eyes to continue to move around the whole piece. From a distance, the whole picture is seen clearly. But once the process and materials are understood, it compels a closer look.

Additionally, some of my collages are made with decorative papers, painted rice paper and/or mulberry and other handmade papers, depending on the desired effect.
Paintings & Drawings
Sticking to one medium is so limiting! But sometimes I force myself to only use one medium at a time, such as acrylics, watercolors, graphite, or alcohol ink markers.
